Na Fianna made it two wins from two in the U17 FL Division 1 when they accounted for St Vincent’s / Curraha in Enfield on Sunday evening.

Na Fianna held a slender one point lead at half time (0-7 to 0-6) thanks mainly to the scoring ability of Sean O’ Neill and Daniel Queeney who were in terrific form. Queeney opened the scoring in the first minute with a superb pointed effort and he added another one five minutes later in response to the away sides opening point. O ‘ Neill then hit four unanswered points as he caused havoc and when he added his fifth just before the break Na Fianna were looking odds on for a win. But a succession of scores late in the half helped the away side keep within a point.

The turning point in the game came five minutes after half time when Queeney netted the game’s only goal. This gave the home side a cushion which was further helped when Sean Coyle pointed shortly after. Further points from O’ Neill, midfielder David Lynch and sub Richie Massey enabled Na Fianna keep the visitors at bay and earn another valuable win.

Na Fianna: John Collins, Cian Mc Donagh, Killian Coffey, Adam Burke, Conor Geraghty, Conor Downey, Billy Cullen, David Lynch (0-1), Keith Jordan, Lewis Dowling, Daniel Queeney (1-03), Jamie Mc Cormack, Sean Coyle (0-1), Sean O’ Neill (0-5), Michael Farley.
Subs: Richie Massey (0-1) for Coyle, Philip Geraghty for Farley, Lee Hyland for Mc Donagh, Luke Boylan for Dowling, Dylan Flynn for Kordan.
