The curtain came down on GAA activity in Co. Meath on Saturday afternoon as the Senior hurlers of Na Fianna and Navan OMahonys battled to retain Division 1 status for 2010 at a crisp Dunganny pitch. Given the nature of the competition and the time of the year this was a surprisingly competitive and skilful game with an abundance of scores. Na Fianna, without their injured county star David Kirby, struggled for much of the first half and trailed OMahonys by four points at half time on a scoreline of 1-7 to 0-6. Half time substitutions by Na Fianna brought immediate results when Mark Coffey followed up a Barry Slevin point with a goal to level things up just five minutes after the restart. However the competitive nature of the game saw the two teams swap scores before OMahonys got their second goal to go two points ahead as the game entered the last quarter. Further goals from Coffey and Diarmuid Bailey cancelled out an OMahonys penalty goal to see the Baconstown/Enfield side win the last game of the season. Apart from those mentioned Na Fianna also had strong performances from Dan Gleeson , Mark Burke and Brendan Flynn, Niall Reilly and Seanie Griffin in attack.
