Na Fianna played Dunboyne in the third round of the senior championship in Baconstown on Monday evening.
As the ladies have already won 2 out of 2 in their group a win in this game would see them top their group and book a place in the Senior Championship Semi – Final , an excellent achievement for a Team who have just come up from the Intermediate grade in 2009.
Na Fianna had expected this one to be a more competitive game but they had advantage over the visitors from the start in this game when Dunboyne could only field thirteen players.
It was corner forward Shauna Ennis who opened the scoring after five minutes from a pass off from Andrea Colgan. The next score on the Na Fianna scoreboard was a goal after full forward Deirdre Flynn was set up for a goal chance by Ashling Ennis and made no mistake in finding the back of the net.
Na Fianna continued to dominate in the Dunboyne half with centre forward Christine Boggan also hitting the net before the half time whistle after a long ball in from half forward Aine Kirby.
Few balls made it passed the midway mark into the Na Fianna half, any which did were quickly swept up by defenders Michelle O’Malley and Deirdre Moroney on their respective wings.
It was not long before all the Na Fianna forwards had their name on the score board to leave the half time score at 2-9 to the visitors 2 points.

The second half Na Fianna seemed to start a little slower and took a while to get back into this game but Dunboyne found it difficult to take advantage of this period and failed to convert possession into score.
Once the Na Fianna team settled again they went into attacking position and Deirdre Flynn once again hit the net for Na Fianna. A switch then with mid fielder Marie Healy into the full forward position caused more pressure on Dunboyne when she put over a further 1-2 from play within a few minutes of the switch.

Na Fianna continued on the scoring front gathering a further 2 – 6 from play in the second half and only conceding a further 2 points. Na Fianna now await to see whom they shall meet in the 2010 Senior Championship Semi Final in mid August.
