Na Fianna lost out narrowly to St Michaels in their Junior C championship game played in Dunderry on Thursday night.
Na Fianna opened in fine fashion when corner forward Sean O’Neill had 1-1 on the scoreboard inside the first four minutes. However, despite reasonable dominance at mid field through Ronan McMahon and Seanie Griffin, Na Fianna failed to capitalise on the good start and went in at half time on a score of 1-6 to 0-6.
St Michaels upped their game considerably in the second half and began to dominate at mid field, allowing their forwards to score four points without reply – one of which was strongly disputed by the Na Fianna management as it seemed to be well wide. However points from Davy Killoran, O’Neill and Griffin coupled with an excellent goal from Sheamie Donegan kept na Fianna in the contest before St Michaels got the winner with minutes to go. Hard as Na Fianna tried, they could not secure the equaliser.
